eBrace Finished First Orthodontic Treatment Case

Owing to our two-year unceasing research and improvement, we finally accomplished the orthodontic treatment of the first clinical case on November 5th, 2010. The patient mainly suffered from the moderate crowding of the mandibular dentition. The eBrace customized lingual appliance was adopted for invisible correction for 15 months. After correction, the original straight profile was maintained and the occlusal relationship was perfect.

Basic Conditions of the Patient
The patient was a male, 27 years old. The relationship of the molar and canine tooth is moderate. The patient had a straight face profile and his upper anterior teeth did not tilt or protrude out of the month. The upper dental midline was good while the mandibular dentition was crowded about 4mm. Additionally, there was no decayed tooth. When the mouth was opened or closed, the mandible had no abnormal phenomenon and the joint area had no strange sound.

The front parts of the two traguses had no pressing pain. The patient's condition wasⅠ-class purely moderate crowding. This problem can be solved via non-traction treatment with the teeth grinded for larger space so as to deal with the crowding problem. The patient required the invisible treatment of crowded mandibular dentition. Based on this, the doctor put forward corresponding treatment plan with the use of eBrace customized lingual orthodontic technology.

Face Comparisons Before and After Treatment

At the beginning of treatment, the patient's mandibular dentition was installed with the eBrace customized lingual appliance. Three months later, a spring was added to broaden the dental gap and the anterior teeth was grinded in a certain order. The orthodontist first experimentally used the 0.012 inch nickel titanium arch wire for 2 weeks to make the teeth adapt to the force of the arch wire. Afterwards, the 0.014 inch nickel titanium arch wire was employed and the teeth were rearranged in line with a certain order and reconditioned. Seven months later, the teeth were generally arranged neatly.

Then, the fine adjustment period began. Owing to the gap adjustment and torque change, the midline of the two front teeth was aligned and the occlusal relation was good. At last, the arch wire was changed and after three-month fine adjustment, the orthodontic treatment came to an end.

The whole orthodontic treatment lasted for 15 months. After treatment, the patient kept straight face profile, his mandibular dentition was aligned orderly and the occlusal relation was perfect. During treatment, other people could not see the appliance or find any change of the pronunciation of the patient. The orthodontic process and the final treatment results were both satisfactory.

Patient's Opinion
The patient was interviewed by the personnel about the treatment feeling. When installed with the appliance just in the beginning, he felt that there was something on the sides of his tongue. The tongue tip, when touching the appliance, had a slight sense of piercing pain while the speech was not affected at all. One week later, the patient generally adapted to the appliance and was fully accustomed to the appliance after one month.

At different orthodontic stages, different arch wires were used. When the arch wires were changed, the patient could feel ache brought by the movement of the teeth. More importantly, his relatives as well as friends did not know the existence of the appliance during the 15 months. The patient was fully satisfied with the orthodontic effects and had more confident smiles.

Treatment Processes

Attending Orthodontist's Opinion
The attending orthodontist said that the customized lingual bracket was equipped with the help of the transfer tray and pre-formed arch wire. The bracket was bonded to the teeth with the transfer tray, which made the installation process simpler. Even falling off the teeth during treatment, the bracket can be precisely positioned and firmly re-bonded.

The pre-formed arch wire helped save a lot of installation time. The ligation process was very smooth without the problem of bad ligation or the falling of ligation ring. Furthermore, the products can be continuously improved by the Riton Biomaterial in line with the orthodontist's different suggestions to simultaneously meet the requirements of patients as well as the doctors.

Differentiating from traditional products, the eBrace customized lingual appliance constitutes the individualized lingual bracket and personalized arch wire. Based on the greatly changeable lingual anatomical conditions of teeth, it is tailored in line with each tooth of the patient with the use of CAD and CAM technology.

The bracket body is thin and comfortable. The bracket base is bonded to the lingual surface of the teeth with simple installation and convenient operation. Unlike traditional lingual appliances, the eBrace product can minimize the discomfort, exert no impact on pronunciation, and have high orthodontic accuracy as well as other advantages. In addition, it is mounted on the inside surface of the teeth, thus not influencing the patient's image and daily social activities. The patient can keep confident smile throughout the whole orthodontic treatment.
